SPOT ON GEEZER!

We just had our record label, 13th Moon Records, 10th year anniversary & now we have yet another anniversary coming up to celebrate!

Alien Sex Fiend was first formed in 1982, which will be 25 years ago this year (2007). How the hell that happened - we don't know!! We're astounded that we're still here with marbles intact (well just about!) It's scary, amazing & brilliant all at the same time! We had planned to do some shows in 2007 & 2008 to celebrate our 25th anniversary year running across our first meeting, first demos, the first gig & first single release etc, but the London, Belgium & Paris shows ended up happening a bit earlier than anticipated due to demand. They would NOT wait any longer!

So our celebrations will now start off with these first 3 shows. LONDON will be very special because Koko is the new name for the Camden Palace, a venue that witnessed some legendary early Alien Sex Fiend shows, so we decided to return to kick off the party from there. Nostalgic ol' buggers ain't we??? !! heh heh... And as for BELGIUM & FRANCE - well we ain't been out THAT way for a goodly while.....

The shows will be a hoot cos we'll be doing songs from our very beginning right up to date.... sort of a Greatest Hits show if you will. Don't expect an evening of regurgitated records - you should know us better than that! the songs will be attacked & mutilated in full-on fiendish fashion! The space cadets aka our crew are as excited as us at the prospect of getting back on the road - & a big up to 'em all for their loyalty over the years...

And after these shows.... ? Well, plans are afoot for further fiendish frolics so stay tuned to this fiend channel....

King Kurt, The Meteors, Alien Sex Fiend And Guana Batz are among the 19 artists on this 20 track round-up of the Psychobilly/Trash scene. This compilation has been unavailable for a number of years. Released by Anagram/Cherry Red Records in November.

The Alien Sex Fiend track is "Wild Women" also includes The Meteors "Graveyard Stomp", Sunglasses After Dark "Swamp Baby" & Bone Orchard "Fats Terminal".

Included here is the band Demon Preacher.... "Prior to becoming Alien Sex Fiend, the most lovably deranged slice of zombie carrion in the underworld of gothic rock, Nik Wade piloted London based punk band Demon Preacher."

Out of interest Ollie Wisdom from Specimen/The Batcave club is also included with his earlier band The Unwanted!

We were very sad to hear that Tom Frame had died recently. He had worked in the comics world for many years as a letterer. He was probably best known for the work he did on the 2000AD comic with strips such as Judge Dredd. He worked on more 2000AD stories than any other creator, his first work being in Prog #4.

Hear Nik Fiend have a go at NME! & reveal the secrets of the "spirit" of goth!!!

Nik and Mrs Fiend of Alien Sex Fiend took part in "The Great Debate" on "The Music Week" radio show on Sunday 22nd October on BBC 6 Music. The debate was about (ahem) "The New Goth Movement"

Nik Fiend : We arrived at the station & had to hang about listening to some boody awful mediocre music toss, then all about some group who done a bit of touring last year & "overdid it" so this year decided they would give up drinking! Lightweights! yawn yawn.... If you've got any problem sleeping ask 'em for a copy of the playlist! FINALLY "I Walk The Line" powered in & was like a massive kick up the arse & woke everyone up after all that limp toss.

Mrs Fiend : The discussion moved onto what is & isn't "goth"... oh dear!!! It seems that the mainstream media have now decided to attempt to pigeonhole it after ignoring it for so long.... so we just tried to put 'em straight from our perspective.... no 2 people can agree on what is & isn't goth - which is cool in our book cos that what was it was supposed to be all about for us - breaking barriers & no rule book... it could be what YOU wanted... we've just got on with our own thing regardless.

Nik Fiend : Then we were subjected to someone from the NME discussing goth like they had always been into it - hah! So I just HAD to point out that goth or gothic (whatever) had always been used by them as a derogatory term, & I had a right go... AND I managed not to swear (wow!), instead I said "That's a load of Tom Tit"...

Mrs Fiend : It was all a bit too serious so when one of the questions was "what is the sprit of goth"? Nik retorted with "J.D.!!! ... Jack Daniels!" & that finally got the interviewers laughing their proverbial socks off.

Film & Music Supplement Friday Sept 29th 2006

Mrs Fiend had an interview with journalist Dave Simpson for a feature about the History Of Goth, which had been prompted by the recent release of the Rhino compilation "A Life Less Lived : The Gothic Box" (see below for more info) which includes the Alien Sex Fiend track "Now I'm Feeling Zombiefied".

Mrs Fiend says : What was most excellent was that the pic of Nik was the biggest one in the whole feature AND he hadn't said a damn word!

Believe it or not The Observer Music Monthly (October 2006) featured Jarvis Cocker as guest editor. Included was his TOP TEN HORROR ACTS ... "with Halloween looming, here are those who sought to chill the blood whilst rocking the house..."

Alien Sex Fiend were in good company with Bauhaus, Screming Jay Hawkins, The Cramps & The Misfits.

Nik says "Old Jarvis - not a bad bloke - we met him at the Suicide shows in London when he DJed there & he gets top marks for showing his arse during Michael Jackson's number at The Brit Awards in '96."

Nik Fiend (yeah we took that red pill a LONG time ago!)

We decided to start with something new - Gotta Have It (Sliced And Diced Mix) from the new PARA-ABNORMAL sampler CD, (Release date 4th Sept) we would love to be able to see yer faces if you haven't heard this monster before, yeah you could say it's just a teeny bit intense heh heh.... just goes to show the years aren't exactly mellowing us ;-) & the version on the Information Overload album is even longer - if u can handle it!

Plus an oldie - E.S.T. (Trip To The Moon) - this version's from The Best Of ASF CD (aka Fiend Club in the US).... & it's the 7" single version - most people are more familiar with the full length 12" /album version - so it's a bit different. We've had such a long list of requests that we'd basically need our own daily radio show or something to fit everything in! But we'll try & change or rotate tunes as we go on....
