| Nik and Mrs Fiend write :
We recently had our record label, 13th Moon Records, 10th year anniversary which we marked with the release of the "Para-Abnormal" CD sampler compilation & now we have yet another anniversary to celebrate! Alien Sex Fiend was first formed in 1982, which will be 25 years ago this year (2007). How the hell that happened - we don't know!! We're astounded that we're still here with marbles intact (well just about!) It's scary, amazing & brilliant all at the same time! We had planned to do some shows in 2007 & 2008 to celebrate our 25th anniversary year running across our first meeting, first demos, the first gig at the infamous Batcave in London, & the first single release "Ignore The Machine" etc, but the London, Waregem (Belgium) & Paris (France) shows ended up happening a bit earlier than anticipated due to demand, they would NOT wait any longer! So our celebrations started off with these first 3 shows dubbed "The Nightmare After Christmas" tour. LONDON was very special because Koko is the new name for the Camden Palace, a venue that witnessed some legendary early Alien Sex Fiend shows, so we decided to return to kick off the party from there. Nostalgic ol' buggers ain't we??? !! heh heh... And as for BELGIUM & FRANCE - well we hadn't been out THAT way for a goodly while..... The shows were wild with songs from our very beginning right up to date.... sort of a Greatest Hits if you will. Everything from our earliest recording ("R.I.P." from The Batcave album "Young Limbs, Numb Hymns") up to "Baby" (from our recent "Information Overload" studio album) plus the airing of brand new tune "One Way Ticket To Venus". The songs were attacked & mutilated in full-on fiendish fashion! It was brilliant to get back together with the Space Cadets aka our road crew who worked their butts off to get everything up & running - & a big up to 'em all for their devotion to the fiend cause... And after these shows.... ? Well, plans are afoot for further fiendish frolics so stay tuned to this fiend channel.... |
25 FIENDISH YEARS
"But that's nothing compared with
the manic nightmare that is Alien Sex Fiend... They make The Fall sound
like ABC, The Birthday Party like The Go-Go's, and Killing Joke like The
Bay City Rollers. I doubt, in fact, that I've ever heard anything uglier
in the name of music - a cult following seems assured" SPOT ON GEEZER! |

Thanks to Kristian in the US for spotting this one.It may
not be the cover of Rolling Stone - but!!
In Issue 1015 dated December 14th 2006 of Rolling Stone magazine, there was a review for "A Life Less Lived: The Gothic Box", they gave the set 4 stars and said (last paragraph) "It peaks with Alien Sex Fiend's "Now I'm Feeling Zombified," nine minutes of demented moans from one Nik Fiend and keyboards from Mrs. Fiend, juicing up an old Stooges riff with disco beats and horror-movie sound effects."
Various Artists - A Life Less Lived: The Gothic Box This four-disc boxed set of three CDs and one DVD contains 53 songs and 12 videos originally released between 1978 and 1998, this boxed set provides a uniquely comprehensive listen into the largest underground scene in the world. Released by Rhino Entertainment in September 2006. The Alien Sex Fiend track is "Now I'm Feeling Zombified", also includes Killing Joke "Tomorrow's World", Clan Of Xymox "Muscoviet Musquito", Skinny Puppy "Assimilate" & Specimen "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang". |
